Grizzly Man

Grizzly Man - (2005) 

The Grizzly Man is about Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard who lived with wild grizzly bears in Alaskan. The film is a documentary which is pieced together with actual video footage that Treadwell filmed, there was overall 100 hours of footage. Every summer Treadwell would go to Alaska and camp with the bears, he would take his video camera with him. The film was directed by a German director called Werner Herzog.

Having looked at the Grizzly Man and Lacan theory's, I have found that the two linked together and Treadwell lack of human connection and desire meant he turned to the wild.

Before going to Alaskan Treadwell desire to be to be an actor, he went to audition for Cheers however he didn't get the part, and this meant he started taking drink and drugs. This fulfiled his lack of not being coming an actor, until he became clean and sober then his lack changed to something else. When Treadwell become clean and sober he has a new passion of the grizzly bears in Alaska. This would fulfil his lack.

Within the film Treadwell's 'lack' is clear and is shown to outcast and loner, and finds company in wild animals and nature. Within the film it is clear that Treadwell is using his lack of human connections by finding company with the bears. Treadwell does talk about relationships with other human and talks about why it never worked.
