Shot/ Reverse shot is normally used in a conversation, or when characters are looking at each other. The shot goes back and forth between them, and it is use by a over shoulder shot or a point of view shot.



Establishing shot is normally used at the start of a scene to show the audience where they are, this gives the audience context and meaning. The shot that is used is a wide angled shot or an extreme wide angle shot.  An example of this is below, where it shows New York City and then shows central Perk window. This is setting the scene and giving the audience context and meaning of what it happening.



Match on Action is where on shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot
