Birdy - People Help the People



This music video People Help The People is by Birdy and want release on October 6th 2011. This video contains both narrative and performance.

The video jumps to Birdy on the bus and she is singing, showing the performance side of the song. When you bird singing its suggesting that its Birdy's opinion its emphasise that the people need help, this is shown throughout of the video.

At the chorus they show different people from different backgrounds, this is linking in with the meaning on the song and how they all need help.
Throughout the videos you see mirrors and different people looking into the mirrors, this gives you the idea that they might see something different to what everyone else sees as. Linking back to the idea that people need help.

All of the video is in Black and White, this adds sadness to the mood when watching the video, this also links to the lyrics of the song that help is needed for the people. In the two screenshots above, they both look very sad and very isolated. They are all in a busy town and all sitting by themselves looking very sad. This is linking in with where they need help. I find that where the man is sitting by himself you see a lot of people walking pass him and not really bothered by him.

You see a lot of close ups of Birdy in this video and this is done for star image, and helps to advertises the artist. This links in with looking at Andrew Goodwin.

Within the video, soft lighting has been used, this has been done by getting camera flare. This creates an atmosphere of everything being alright, but in fact it isn't.
