Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Same Love

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Same Love

This music video is to the song same love by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis which was released on 2nd October 2012 and is narrative based. The lyrics of the song is about same love and being accepted for who he is. An example of this is in the lyrics "I can't change even if I wanted to". This  The narrative follows a main character and the main sex-partner who he falls in love with.

Dull lighting is used throughout of the music video, this could suggest how the main character is feeling and how he is unable to show the 'real' him without being judged. Also as there isn't bright lighting it could suggest that he couldn't express himself and how he felt he has to be someone else. This is also shown at the party where he is peer pressured into kissing a girl and its the 'party rules' to do this, going back to this idea that he is made to be someone he isn't by his friends to 'fit' in.

After they get married, there are flash backs between their party and the party before in the film. This is showing how he has changed and how happy he is now to then. Also its showing he isn't feared about what people think anymore. Below are examples of the two different parties. The viewer watching will be able to look back and see how his happiness has changed and how more conformable he is. Also is shows how happy he is now that he is accepted for how he is.
